Lock recognition is a vital part of locksmith training. Over the last ten years, there have been as many as 100 different mortice locks produced. It will be almost impossible to open any of them unless you know exactly what they are.
In a field environment, this will be based purely on what you can see through the key hole, possibly at night. Some locks will be the same but with different colours; others will look different but have the same internal mechanisms.
The Lock Recognition training course teaches these recognition skills. We have a wide variety of locks and we will teach you the different families that exist and how to identify the locks you will face.
The module includes a colour manual showing the different locks together with views of the internal workings of the lock and the best drill point and picking methods for each lock as required.
Successful completion is one of the requirements to progress in the Institute of Certified Locksmiths to an Advanced Student.
This is a one-day course costing £275 plus VAT.
