Training at the Locksmiths Training Centre Most locksmiths are self-employed, and the profession is ideal if you want to be your own boss: it is rewarding and offers flexible working hours, an attraction if you are looking for a career change.

The Locksmiths Training Centre operates a specialist locksmith training facility, and also trains in-house for commercial customers.

The Centre is a Learning and Skills Council training partner, and offers one-, two- and five-day courses approved by the City and Guilds and the Institute of Certified Locksmiths:

  • Our Standard Locksmithing course is an ideal introduction to locksmithing
  • Our Advanced Locksmithing course is for those seriously wanting to become self-employed lockmiths of the highest quality
  • Modules for Non-destructive Entry, Lock Recognition, Digital Locks, Lock Fitting, Auto Locksmithing and Field Experience let you add additional skills to your portfolio
  • Our Business Start-up and Management Course will help you run your own business.

Training at the Locksmiths Training CentreOur training is one-to-one, and we train small groups of up to four only by request. This allows a totally hands-on approach without a classroom environment.

As well as the locksmith tuition, we provide some basic tools to take away, and spend time with each student discussing the business side of the profession: start-up costs, advertising, stock and tool requirements, suppliers and so on.

And we offer post-course advice and assistance – many students return to us for further training and join us at our locksmith meetings.
